TdN Team for 2008 and Beyond
At the recent NATC meeting in Dallas, the NATC Board of Directors approved some significant changes to how the team will operate in 2008 and for the future. The NATC is very excited by the changes and hopes that there will be an avenue for the participation of many trials riders across the US to help assure a successful team effort in the future.
TdN Team Structure:
- The US “TdN Team” includes both the men’s and women’s “teams”.
- A TdN Team Oversight Committee is established and will serve as a “steering” committee for the Team.
- The TdN Team Oversight Committee members are: NATC CEO, NATC COO, NATC CFO, AMA Delegate and the Team Manager. For 2008, these individuals are: Brian Behling, Bruce Bolander, Carolyn Saum, Ted Gansberger and Kip Webb respectively.
- The Oversight Committee will choose a Rider Selection Committee that will do the actual selection of the riders for the team. This committee will not have any Importers or anyone with a vested financial interest as a member. The Team Manager is not a member of the team selection committee.
- Team Manager will be selected by the NATC Board of Directors annually.
- The TDN fund will be controlled by the NATC CFO (Carolyn).
- The AMA Delegate is determined by the NATC Board of Directors and approved by the AMA. The backup AMA Delegate is the NATC CEO.
Some specifics on roles:
- The primary interface for the Team Manager on “day to day” matters (as needed) to the oversight committee and the NATC is the COO (Bruce).
- The primary interface for the Team Manager to the AMA and to the FIM is the AMA Delegate (Ted).
- The NATC CFO is to write checks, accept deposits, and account for Team funds in accordance with NATC, Inc. income tax reporting requirements.
- Team Manager duties: organize fund raising, coordinate and direct riders and minders, make travel arrangements, etc. The Team Manager may organize committees and volunteers as needed.
- Distribution of monies to riders will be determined by the Oversight Committee. Usually this is done after the TdN in one equal amount to each rider and the Team Manager. Normally it covers air fare, lodging and transportation at the event, less $250 to $500 depending on the amount in the fund.
General Operation:
- Team selection will be as early as possible after first NATC/AMA National.
- A checklist will be provided to the Team Manager for a guideline of duties.
Thanks to all of our team contributors and supporters. We look forward to a great year in 2008.
Brian Behling, CEO
